About Us:
Mount Isa Christian College "Building Character in Community". Our Mission statement is "A private College committed to providing quality Christian Education in a loving Environment for families in Mount Isa and the great North West".
The College is a non-denominational Christian school established in Mount Isa in 1981 as a ministry of what is now Isa Community Church. The school is affiliated with Christian Schools Australia which as membership of around 150 schools, 55000 students and 3000 teaching staff. The school offers a curriculum based upon that developed by the Queensland Studies Authority. Members of the teaching staff are appropriately qualified and all staff are committed Christians actively involved in a local church.
Christ-Centred Education:
Mount Isa Christian College's distinctive approach to education is that God's word is acknowledged as the foundation of all truth and learning. The school aims to assist parents in their God-given responsibility to provide a God-centred, Christ honouring education in which their children "May grow up into Him in all things" (Ephesians 4:3-14). The aim of Christian education is to develop a Christian world view and to healp each student grow up into Jesus Christ in every sphere of life. Each subject offered in the school is a means by which students are taught to see themselves, others and the world revealed around them as is revealed in God's Word.
Educational Programme:
The School's educational programme provides for the eights key learning areas of the Arts, English, Health and Physical Education, Languages other than English (A coumputer based Chinese teaching programme will commence in 2008), Mathematics, Science, Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE) and Technology. The school's Christian Studies programme provides a course in Bible Studies from Prep to Year 7.

L.E.M Phonics:
Mount Isa Christian College's teaching programme incorporates the teaching of the L.E.M phonics approach to reading and spelling from Prep to Year 7. L.E.M Phonics provides a systematic approach of teaching the letter sounds (phonograms) in the English language. As students learn words from the weekly spelling list they are taught the spelling rules that will help them to spell most of the words they will use.
Facilities:
The School is situated in pleasant grounds next to the Sunset Oval. Classrooms are air-conditioned and roomy, providing an atmosphere conductive to learning. There is a fully equipped computer room and a chapel. Children eat lunch and can play in the large undercover area. The grounds are fully fenced and the school has access to Sunset Oval for sports. The school library is well equipped with a large stock of books and resources.
School Chaplain
Our Chaplain, Mrs Shelli Hobby, provides Chapel service and Christian studies teaching for the children. She is also available in a pastoral role to the whole School Community.

The tuition fees at MICC are moderate and the school provides flexible options to help families find a convenient way of maintaining fee payments.
